California AB1215 mandates that dealers should obtain an NMVTIS vehicle history report with every used car sold at retail starting July 1, 2012. If a used car has a junk, salvage, total-loss, or title-branded record in the NMVTIS report, then the following red warning sticker is to be placed on the vehicle next to the Federal Trade Commission Buyer’s Guide:
